Why go to Church?

Jesus is Real
History and the Bible tell us that Jesus Christ was a man who lived about 2000 years ago.  He died when He was in his thirty’s, and His death brought amazing change to the first century world.  In fact His death continues to change the world to this day.
Jesus is the Son of God
The Old Testament tells about His coming, and the life-changing difference that His life and death would have on the entire world.
Jesus is Both God and Man
Much of the New Testament tells about the life that Jesus lived here on Earth.  He preformed miracles, He walked on water, He cured diseases, He brought the dead back to life.  Jesus did all these things to show He was more then just a man.  He did these things to show that He was God in human flesh.
We need Jesus to fix our greatest problem.

We live everyday falling short of what God would have for us.  The Bible calls this sin.  On our own we cannot defeat our own tendency to sin, in fact this tendency to sin starts early and often controls us.  It prevents us from doing right, and leads to pain, suffering, and eventually death.
Jesus Paid the Price for Our Sins

The sin we do everyday often feels good for a moment, but all those thoughts, words, actions, and deeds have an awful result.  They cause personal suffering, broken homes, grief, and any number of woes.  The worst of all is a physical separation from the God who created us, and wants to have a relationship with us.  Jesus was without sin, and then He came to us to pay the penalty for our sin.  He was beaten, nailed to a cross and died to make it possible for us to be restored to God.  God accepted His sacrifice, and raised Jesus from the dead so we could know that the debt we owed has been paid.
We can be Forgiven
God, Jesus, and the Bible all state that if we believe in Him, we can have Jesus’ sacrifice take away our sin.  Faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for sin will guarantee that when we die we will go to Heaven in the presence of a wonderful heavenly father, and not a place the Bible calls Hell separated from God forever.

What is a Christian?

What does it mean to be “A Christian”
A Christian is a person that has asked Jesus to be their Lord and Savior.  They believe that Jesus is the Son of God who lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose again to save men, women, and children from their sin.  A Christian is a person who is free from the eternal consequence of sin, working to get rid of sin in their everyday lives, and wait for God to bring us home to Him so that we will not struggle with sin anymore.
About Sin

Yes, you read it right.  Just because you are a Christian that does not mean that you do not sin.  Jesus frees us from the power that sin has on us, and we have to work more and more to sin less and less until we reach Heaven.  Being a Christian we now have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  Jesus will help us get rid of sin in our life, and when we find our self struggling with sin, all we have to do is ask for forgiveness and know that He will help us through.  A Christian is a person who has been forgiven and seeks to walk with God through a relationship with Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

Want to be a Christian?

You can right now, right where you are if you would like to.  It means turning from your old way of life and asking Jesus to forgive you.  You can say a simple prayer right where you are and know that God will hear if you are sincere.  Admit that you need Him as your Savior, tell Him you believe that His death on the cross paid the price for your sin, and confess your desire to follow after Him.

What Now?

After you have become a Christian what do you do next?  There are three very good things that you can do after becoming a follower of Christ.
1.  Read the Bible

Find a Bible in your home or at a local church or a local store.  You can find a Bible just about everywhere.  There are many different versions out at this time, it can get a little confusing, but for a first time reader we suggest a NIV.  Many are available online if you want to do a search and find a version that works for you.  In the future you will want to look for a good Study Bible that has notes and maps to help you understand what you are reading.  If you find that you are not a good reader, don’t quit.  Reading you Bible every day is the key even if it is only a few verses.  After you find a Bible you like and really understand, you might find that version on CD.  I always recommend people start in the Gospel of John.  It is the fourth book of the New Testament.  It gives a great picture of who Jesus Christ is.
2. Find a place to Worship.
There are Churches everywhere.  Take the time to find one or two near where you live.  Make it your goal to visit Churches until you find one that teaches the Bible as the Word of God, and seeks to help people understand what it means to follow Jesus Christ.  There are a variety of places that teach the Bible and are willing to help people.  They like different types of music, worship at different times of the day, and even different days of the week.  Look around till you find one that works out for you.  If you live near Nashua or Hudson New Hampshire you are always welcome at Cross Pointe. See home page for our service times.
3.  Make a change to your life.

After becoming a Christian you are a new person don’t go back to all your old ways.  Try listening to some Christian music, look at work or at school for other Christian’s and introduce yourself to them, try listening to the local Christian radio station.  Make a point to tell others about what you have learned recently.  Take the time to read your Bible everyday, pray or talk to God, and listen to how He is directing your life.

Still not sure?

Don’t stop thinking.  Read the Bible, check out the other links on our site, ask questions of other Christian’s you might know, try out a local Church, or send us an e-mail with your question.  We are glad to be of service to all who have questions or are thinking about becoming a Christian.
